The newest version of our Rambla Media Encoder is ready and waiting to broadcast all your live events. It has been equipped with a state of the art Blackmagic Design 'DeckLink Studio' video card to ensure both video and audio of pristine quality and a multitude of input sources. Also new is the incorporation of Telestream's WirecastTM software, which turns our Media Encoder into a full-blown live video production environment.
The new Media Encoder makes it possible to deliver your live streams in High Definition quality. In combination with the Rambla CDN, it is the ideal solution for multi-screen delivery of live video. Only a single Rambla Media Encoder is required to reach Flash players, iOS devices, Android or Windows phones, set-top boxes... It is even possible to deliver several streams (e.g. multiple cameras, adaptive streaming) to multiple screens with a single Media Encoder and using just a single workflow.
Blackmagic Design's DeckLink Studio includes fully independent connections for HD/SD SDI, HDMI and enhanced analog connections (Component, S-Video, Composite) to support a massive range of video equipment. Also included are a multitude of audio connections, with 4 channels of balanced analog audio, 8 channels of SDI audio plus 2 channels of AES/EBU digital with sample rate converters. For a broadcast strength solution, DeckLink Studio also has RS-422 deck control and blackburst and tri-sync reference input.
In addition, Rambla Media Encoder is able to broadcast from other input sources like PCI video capture cards and most network cameras (already tested with AXIS 211 W, Sony SNC-RZ50 and Cisco WVC80N). Digital video recorders or camcorders are supported via a Firewire (DV or HDV) or USB interface.
Furthermore, the on-board Wirecast software allows our Media Encoder to directly broadcast the desktop of any computer in the same network, which can be used to easily broadcast a teleconference, powerpoint presentation or software demonstration. It is also possible to store videos on the Media Encoder's hard disk and broadcast them in alternation with parts of a live stream (e.g. during intermissions).
Telestream's Wirecast software offers a professional production environment for all kinds of live video streams. It allows you to dynamically switch between multiple camera's or mix in video from multiple sources (e.g. Picture-in-Picture). A live stream can be enriched with other media such as prerecorded video, audio, images and text. You can use chroma key (= green screen), do a live presentation in a pre-configured virtual 3D set or embed a news ticker or live-scoreboards for sporting events directly into your stream.
Advanced production capabilities include 3D graphics, transitions and built-in titles which merge seamlessly with Wirecast's layering system, allowing you to produce a single live stream using up to 35 different layers of 'live compositing'. What's more, all these features are available through a single, intuitive user interface. For more details, have a look at the Wirecast demos.
Our Media Encoder allows you to broadcast multiple distinct video streams at the same time. Moreover, each stream can be broadcasted in several different resolutions (bitrate and size), in order to provide adaptive streaming or to optimize the viewing experience with regards to picture quality on multiple screens.
The industrial strength streaming software on the Rambla CDN, developed by our partner Wowza Media Systems, makes sure that all streams are delivered to your viewers in the right format and using the required protocol (e.g. RTMP streaming for Flash clients, HTTP streaming for iDevices).
Given a sufficient upload speed, video streams can be broadcasted in High Definition. The Media Encoder supports display resolutions of 1,280×720 pixels (720p) or 1,920×1,080 pixels (1080i/1080p). However, due to bandwidth limits that typically apply to end-user connections, 720p will be the highest achievable resolution in most set-ups.
Rambla Media Encoder supports real time recording to hard disk in mp4 format (h264 video, AAC audio). It is possible to record your stream simultaneously in up to three different resolutions (e.g. for mobile, web and set-top box). This way, your videos for on-demand viewing will be ready as soon as the event itself is finished.
